The Foundation focuses its efforts in four areas:

Community Safety:

We help make communities safer through our humanitarian relief activities and with the UPS Road Code™, our safe-driving training program.

Environmental Sustainability:

We seek to preserve and enhance the natural environment through our global forestry initiative and other activities.

Diversity:

Our grants to organizations that promote diversity help create opportunities and increase inclusion for underserved and under-represented members of our society.

Volunteerism:

We promote and facilitate the engagement of people who want to lend a helping hand to those in need.

The UPS Foundation 2011 Achievements and Highlights

• Awarded grants to more than 4,200 non-profits, supporting communities where our employees live and work
• Launched a multi-year Forestry Initiative,  providing US$1.3 million to support tree planting and reforestation projects around the world
• Reached a new employee volunteer record, 1.6 million hours
• Provided  US$6.4 million in humanitarian relief donations, the highest in company history
• Provided a total of on US$2.7 million in in-kind transportation movements
• Taught 1,800 young people safe driving skills in four countries (US, Germany, England, Canada)
• Provided a total of US$3.7 million in environmental grants
• Supported the United Way with US$52.1 million (includes $45.4 million in employee and retiree contributions) in the US, Canada and Mexico
