2010

  • In July, UPS launched UPS Import ControlSM, a new function that gives importers rather than exporters greater control over their inbound shipments. The new service reduces delays to the shipping process due to incorrect or incomplete documentation, and gives importers the ability to mask profit margins as they ship directly to end-customers.
  • In July, UPS introduced its carbon neutral programme. UPS customers now have the option of paying a small fee to calculate and offset the impact of the carbon emissions associated with their shipments.

  • In March, UPS moved to its new larger operational facility within Hyderabad

2008

  • In September, UPS opened an operational facility in Delhi
  • In April, UPS introduced the ‘Mango Savour’ a convenient way to send exotic top quality alphonso mangoes to clients, family and friends located overseas across 200 countries and territories covered by UPS
  • In February, UPS strengthened its service portfolio in India and the Asia Pacific region with the introduction of eight new products UPS Paperless InvoiceSM, UPS ReturnsSM, UPS Broker of ChoiceSM, UPS FTZ FacilitatorSM, UPS Clinical TrialsSM , UPS ExpressSM Freight, UPS Air Freight DirectSM and UPS Air Freight ConsolidatedSM aimed at simplifying global trade for Indian and Asian companies conducting business internationally

2007

  • In November, UPS Jetair Express Pvt. Ltd. announced a strategic alliance agreement with AFL Pvt. Ltd. to significantly expand UPS’s on-ground locations in India, while providing AFL with export capabilities. The sales alliance took effect from January 1, 2008, where all 216 AFL WiZ Express Centres strategically located across the country began to service UPS’s customers
  • In August, UPS celebrated 100 years of service
  • In June, UPS opened a new operations centre in Tirupur, to meet growing demand for its services in South India. The 2,300-square-feet facility has an expanded package sorting capacity and provides convenient access for factories to export their products globally.
  • In January, UPS introduced three daily time-definite delivery options. The new services provide customers with more flexibility on lanes between the United States and Asia, Europe and the Americas, giving businesses three time-of-day delivery options in 30 of the world’s most active trading markets

2006

  • In November, UPS launched the UPS People-to-People Program at Navlakhumbre, a village in Maharashtra, with the aim of improving the lives of the people of Navlakhumbre through ‘technology’ and ‘education’. A global team of UPS employees together built two computer labs. In addition as part of the program medical examination and nutritional supplements were organized for the children
  • In June, UPS India introduced next day delivery from India to Europe and the U.S.

2005

  • In February, UPS introduced UPS TradeAbility, which helps international shippers in India quickly and easily identify specific country tariff codes to calculate duties necessary for customs clearance.

2004

  • In February, UPS introduced UPS CampusShip® in India, offering customers the advantage of Web-based shipping solutions with centralized control and visibility ideal for decentralised office environments.

2003

  • In January, UPS introduced UPS World EaseSM in India offering customers the advantage of consolidated customs clearance.

2002

  • In November, UPS launched SMS tracking service in India to provide customers with the most convenient access to information on their package delivery status anytime, anywhere using mobile phones
  • UPS opened representative offices in Coimbatore, Tirupur, Moradabad, Pune, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Ludhiana
  • In June, UPS announced the launch of full-fledged operations in Bangalore to improve its service in India as well as to better serve the IT industry in Bangalore

2001

  • In September, UPS launched the Delivery Information Acquisition Device II (DIAD II) for the express delivery industry in India. DIAD II, a hand held computer, digitally captured customers’ signatures and package information – an industry first
  • In January, UPS Jetair Express Pvt. Ltd. commenced operations in India
