UPS Responds to FedEx

Abstract:

A FedEx assertion that UPS paid the American Conservative Union for its support in a debate over labor law is entirely false.

On July 15, a group of seven leaders of well-known Washington organizations wrote to FedEx Chairman Fred Smith, objecting to FedEx’s tactics in attacking UPS over a proposed amendment to U.S. labor law. UPS has not paid or contracted with any signers of the letter, including the American Conservative Union, to obtain their support on this issue. Any suggestion that UPS has done so is false.

FedEx’s assertion that UPS would engage in this type of activity is another example of its overly aggressive efforts to distort the facts. It is FedEx that unfairly receives special treatment and UPS believes that employees performing the same work should be covered by the same labor law.
