Brad Mitchell Named President of UPS Logistics and Distribution

    Atlanta, January 22, 2009

UPS (NYSE: UPS) today announced it has named Brad Mitchell president of UPS Global Logistics and Distribution.

In his new role, Mitchell directs distribution services and post-sales services worldwide, including warehousing, order fulfillment and delivery and returns processing for mission critical parts. He also leads UPS Mail Innovations, offering customers postal services through the USPS work share program.

"The post-sales supply chain is becoming increasingly important in today's complex marketplace and UPS is a leader in the space," Mitchell said. "We have the specialized experience, dedicated management team, global capabilities and systems needed to help our customers improve the performance and efficiency of their post-sales supply chains and turn them into a competitive advantage."

Mitchell's primary focus is to provide service part logistics for aerospace and high tech industries as well as for the medical devices sector of the healthcare industry. These services include asset recovery, recycling management, field tech support, returns and repair management to customers, large and small, around the world. All services are offered via a sophisticated global IT system that easily allows customers to use these services anywhere in the world.

Prior to his new role, Mitchell held various senior operational and financial positions before becoming the operations manager of UPS Global Logistics and Distribution. He joined UPS in 2000 when it acquired Canadian healthcare logistics company Livingston, Inc. That acquisition expanded UPS's healthcare logistics focus by adding regulatory-compliant and controlled environment distribution facilities and services across North America.

One customer that has benefited from UPS service parts logistics and shipping services is Embraer, the world's leading manufacturer of commercial jets of up to 120 seats and one of Brazil's largest exporters. Embraer asked UPS to design and implement a new distribution strategy to reduce overhead and inventory levels as well as improve service levels to service centers maintaining Embraer's aircraft parts.

Says Aloisio Lopes, Embraer Senior Manager, Materials Support: "Embraer and UPS partnered to build an end-of-runway distribution center housing aircraft spare parts, and offering Embraer Executive Aviation operators with later order cut off time for Next Day Air¿ delivery. The immediate results are that Embraer customers will benefit from an efficient supply chain and take advantage of UPS widespread logistics network."
