Following a six-month search, UPS (NYSE:UPS) today announced it had selected Ogilvy as its new global communications agency.
In a fully integrated solution, Ogilvy will handle global advertising, relationship marketing and digital activities around the world. Its sister agency Maxus will handle media placements worldwide.
"This process provided UPS the opportunity to work with some truly outstanding agencies," said Christine Owens, senior vice president, communications and brand management. "Ogilvy, Y&R and Euro RSCG all demonstrated great professionalism throughout and delivered strong strategic and creative ideas on our behalf. We asked a lot of all of them, and they all rose to the occasion."
UPS selected Ogilvy based on several search criteria, including its ability to execute across communication channels around the world, strong business-to-business brand experience and an ability to drive business results.
"UPS believes Ogilvy is the right strategic partner because their ideas reflected an understanding of UPS’s culture and business. They demonstrated exceptional strategic and creative thinking and an integrated, global approach," Owens said.
Ogilvy will assume its new duties immediately.
UPS's selection of a new global agency, which was assisted by the AAR Group of London, does not impact the work performed on behalf of The UPS Store by The Doner Agency.
