London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic mascots Wenlock and Mandeville joined children from 10 local schools yesterday, at the 10th annual Feltham Primary Schools Sports Day, sponsored by UPS.
This year, in addition to providing trophies and medals for the winning teams, UPS surprised the children by bringing along the London 2012 mascots to join the fun. Wenlock and Mandeville soon got stuck in and were even seen competing in their own parcel relay.
The winning schools in each category, who took part at the event at Hillingdon Sports and Leisure Complex in Uxbridge, were:
UPS has sponsored the annual event for primary and junior school pupils in the Feltham area for the last ten years and is the Official Logistics and Express Delivery Supporter of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Feltham-based company is responsible for virtually all the distribution and logistics services for the London 2012 Games.
Jim Barber, UPS Managing Director, UPS UK & Ireland, said: "With two years to go until the London 2012 Games, it has been great to see so many local children inspired to participate in sport. We are delighted that Wenlock and Mandeville were able to join us to share in the fun and we hope the 10th Annual Sports day has brought some of the excitement around London 2012 to Feltham."
This year, the 10 schools that took part in the event were Bedfont Junior School, Crane Park Primary School, Edward Pauling Primary School, Fairholme School, Feltham Hill Junior School, Forge Lane Primary School, Southville Junior School, Sparrow Farm Junior School, St Lawrence's RC Primary School, & Victoria Junior School.
