UPS Appoints Key Sales, Marketing Executives for Asia

Singapore, April 20, 2012

UPS (NYSE: UPS) has announced two new senior appointments to oversee its business development and marketing operations in the Asia Pacific Region, naming Christopher Perkins the vice president of business development and Phillip Wu the vice president for marketing.

Both executives, who have previously worked closely together managing sales and marketing in China, will now manage the same for 40 countries and territories throughout Asia Pacific, spanning the area as far north as Greater China and Japan to the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia and as far south as Australia and New Zealand.

Perkins, a 30-year veteran of UPS who has most recently been leading business development and sales activities in the North Asia District, has been promoted to vice president of business development for the Asia Pacific Region.

A native of Houston, Texas, Perkins began his career at UPS in 1982, advancing through numerous positions in business development. Before coming to Asia, he was the director of sales for the South California District and Georgia District. In 2006, Perkins relocated to China as director of sales and accepted the assignment in the North Asia District in 2010.

Commenting on his new role, Perkins said: "Asia is a key strategic region for UPS. I am excited to further develop the business here and help Asian customers better connect to their global markets through UPS's integrated logistics capabilities."

Wu, who has been with UPS for 19 years and who most recently was the senior director of enterprise pricing at UPS's corporate headquarters in Atlanta, Ga., USA, has been named vice president of marketing and will oversee all marketing and communications activities in the region.

Wu started his UPS career in an administrative role of application programmer at the UPS corporate office in 1993 before being promoted into management in 1996 in the marketing function. Bearing testimony to UPS's policy of promoting from within, he rose through the ranks as marketing manager for global e-commerce and then as marketing director for global revenue management.

In 2005, he was appointed marketing director of revenue management, business planning and analysis for UPS Asia Pacific and relocated to Singapore. In 2007, Wu was named marketing director of the UPS China District. During his stint in China, in 2010 he initiated and headed UPS's strategic alliance with AliExpress, Alibaba's online wholesale marketplace, making UPS its "preferred logistics provider."

"I look forward to building upon the great strides the team here has accomplished and to growing the UPS brand further," said Wu. Asia's dynamic and diverse business environment, with all its opportunities, makes it an exciting place to be right now."

Perkins succeeds Geoff Bastow and Wu takes over from Chris Grubb, both of whom have moved onto new assignments at UPS's corporate office.
