| UPS recognized with Environmental Responsibility Award |
| |
In December, the California Manufacturers/Industrial Environmental Association
recognized UPS with its annual Environmental Responsibility Award. This award
acknowledges UPS is advancing the development of alternative fuel technology
with its fuel cell vehicle initiative. UPS operates two fuel cell vehicles in
Ontario, California and Ann Arbor, Michigan.

| In July, KLD Research & Analytics, Inc., an independent investment research and index provider, launched the KLD Global Climate 100SM Index, the first global index focused on solutions to climate change. UPS was the only package delivery company named on the inaugural list. |

| UPS named a "Clean Ocean Business" by city of Santa Cruz |
| |
| In August 2002, the City of Santa Cruz, California recognized UPS for their efforts in protecting the ocean. The city officially has named UPS a "Clean Ocean Business." In a letter to UPS, the city lauded UPS for using "the best management practices to help protect water and wildlife from pollution." |

| UPS Airlines wins 1997/98 Quiet Fleet Award |
| |
| UPS Airlines, Palm Beach International's only all-cargo carrier, was recognized as one of five airlines to fly 100 percent takeoffs and landings in quieter Stage 3 aircraft. The Palm County Board of County Commissioners presented the 1997/98 Quiet Fleet Award to UPS in April 1998. |

| The New England Environmental EXPO and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) both recognized UPS with the 1996 New England Environmental Award for the company's investment in alternative fuel technology, specifically the company's conversion of 100 package delivery vehicles to operate on compressed natural gas (CNG) in Hartford, Connecticut, and the construction of a CNG fueling station there. |
