UPS Delivers New Look to Louisiana Shelter

UPS volunteers recently spruced up the Calcasieu Women's Shelter in Lake Charles, LA. Tasks included repairs, carpentry, painting, plumbing and cleaning up outside. As a surpise, UPS employees also chipped in to buy the shelter a riding mower.
The shelter provides services to 2,000 women and children each year.
Shelter director Ann Polak praised the volunteers on a local TV station, saying: "They're dedicating over 120 hours for maintenance projects we can't do."
UPS manager Ken Walter was enthusiastic about the volunteer experience: "Our people realize how fortunate we are to have good jobs. The satisfaction of helping those that are less fortunate was tremendous. This project was very worthwhile."
