Technology Enhances Health and Wellness of UPS People
UPS Personal Healthcare Record (PHR)
UPS has launched an online Personal Health Record available to approximately 105,000 union-free employees and retirees plus their covered family members. The PHR is a secure and confidential online resource that will allow our people to conveniently manage their own healthcare and that of their dependents.
An individual will be able to view their own medical, pharmacy and lab claims data as well as store and track additional information such as family health history, immunizations, known allergies and over-the-counter medications. A summarized report can be printed and shared with the individual’s doctor improving communication in an effort to enhance the quality of care received and to aid in improving the individual’s overall health and well-being. Additionally, the technology behind the PHR continuously scans an individual’s claims and self-reported information against highly respected sources of medical literature and alerts the individual and their doctors to possible urgent situations and opportunities to improve care.
This technology has proven to significantly improve clinical outcomes, reduce medical errors and lower healthcare costs while opening the lines of communication between patient and doctor, and enhances the safety and quality of care received.
