Supporting the Human Rights Campaign Foundation
The UPS Foundation recently made a $50,000 grant to support the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation's Workplace Project. HRC is the largest national organization dedicated to protecting and promoting the civil rights of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) individuals.
The HRC Foundation's Workplace Project focuses on empowering individuals, employers and elected officials to create equitable workplaces for GLBT Americans. The HRC Foundation consults with corporations and offers a series of workshops called The Corporate Equality Series - to help address workplace issues and to help in the development and administration of policies and benefits for GLBT employees.
The Workplace Project at HRC also developed the influential Corporate Equality Index, a rating system for large U.S. employers that provides an in-depth analysis of policies and practices pertinent to the GLBT community. In 2008, UPS was one of 195 companies to receive a 100 percent rating on the Index.
