PRODUCT OVERVIEW
Global Advisor is a feature on UPS.com that provides customers a one-stop source for detailed information about international trade and shipping.

Targets are:

  • small to medium companies who generally ship dutiable packages
  • companies with little or no experience doing business or shipping internationally
  • wholesale and manufacturing sectors
  • key decision makers with shipping and carrier selection responsibilities.

Global Advisor’s comprehensive international information can help companies expand internationally whether they are new to international trade or a current international shipper. Content provides UPS International shipping information, links to other UPS Web sites, international trade information, and trade facilitation tools (see content overview below).

Available to customers in all 50 states, Global Advisor can be accessed from the UPS.com home page, by clicking on the “Resource” tab and selecting “Global Advisor” or simply going to ups.com/globaladvisor.

Global Advisor Content Overview - includes UPS information, links to other international trade information, and trade facilitation tools:

  • Master the Basics - understanding the basic fundamental principles of importing and exporting, as well as the factors influencing the movement of goods around the world

  • Research the Market - deciding not only what markets will be the most receptive to their products and services, but also determining the competitive landscape, the size of the market, and cost of doing business

  • Find Customers and Suppliers - prequalifying customers, partners, and trade leads

  • Pricing, Quotes, and Negotiations - determining product and service pricing, sale and payment terms, quotation preparation, and deal negotiation - each plays an important role in helping strengthen their financial advantage in international trade

  • Shipping and Logistics - optimizing shipping and logistics

  • Trade Financing and Insurance - learning how to maintain a sound balance between financial opportunity and risk management

  • Trade Events - identifying opportunities to network with colleagues and experts involved in the day-to-day challenges and opportunities in international trade and shipping

It is worth noting that according to consumer research conducted by Hall & Partners for UPS, small businesses have a great passion for building their companies, but sometimes feel distracted by administrative issues like shipping; thus resources like UPS Global Advisor and franchisees of The UPS Store are enabling entrepreneurs to run their business better and expand into international markets.
