Since the passage of the 1996 Welfare Reform Act, UPS has moved 52,000 people
off welfare into well paying jobs with full benefits. Statistics show that only
four percent of welfare recipients have reliable transportation. Therefore, UPS
has also worked with local transit authorities in cities such as Philadelphia,
Chicago and Dallas to create convenient and affordable bus and train routes to
get people to work.
