As a Salvation Army local board member, Arnold volunteered in Haiti before and was familiar with the area and how to get things done. Puckett's Mill Elementary School students (Dacula, Ga.) asked their parents and bus drivers to "cut their engines" in the school drop-off/pick-up line in an effort to protect young lungs, improve air quality and save fuel. Puckett's Mill has seen 100% participation since they began their "No-Idling Campaign," part of a national program sponsored by the Earth Day Network and The Clean Air Campaign. UPS, a company always dedicated to limiting idling in their own vehicles, supported this program through grants totaling $350,000.
