UPS Helps eBay Sellers Go Global
|
|
ATLANTA, Nov. 14, 2005 - UPS (NYSE:UPS) today announced it has expanded
shipping options available to sellers on eBay.com to include international delivery.
The new service provides U.S.-based eBay users the ability to expand their
businesses and ship packages internationally with the same reliability they
have come to expect from UPS's domestic shipping services.
UPS is currently integrated into eBay's shipping center page, allowing
sellers to make shipping a seamless part of their selling process. The eBay
Shipping Center (www.ebay.com/shipping ) gives sellers all of the information
needed to accomplish the essential aspects of shipping, right from within eBay
and PayPal.
The UPS shipping tools allow eBay sellers to calculate costs, request a UPS
pick-up, track shipments, review transit times and print shipping labels for
international shipments, all at the point of transaction. Both international
and domestic UPS shipping labels are available and can be paid for via PayPal.
eBay seller Judi Henderson-Townsend, owner of Mannequin Madness in Oakland,
Calif., uses UPS to deliver mannequins across the United States and Canada
as well as overseas. "About a third of my annual sales come from selling
on eBay," Henderson-Townsend said. "I currently use UPS for all
of my deliveries, and the option to ship internationally directly through eBay
will open up new channels and help me increase my international business."
"UPS is committed to making our services conveniently available at critical
points within our customers' business process," said Jordan Colletta,
vice president of customer technology marketing for UPS. "Our relationship
with eBay is an important dimension of this go-to-market strategy. Many small-
and mid-sized businesses use the eBay marketplace as a major channel, particularly
to reach buyers across the globe. Expanding our international delivery service
to these customers is the next logical step."
Gary Dillabough, vice president of strategic partnerships for eBay said, "The
addition of UPS's international shipping tools helps expand access to
the global marketplace for eBay sellers, affording them more cross-border trading
opportunities. The eBay community has asked for more international shipping
capabilities and we're thrilled to team up with UPS to help simplify
their international trading."
