“Helping communities is in UPS’s blood. It’s in the heritage of UPS to help out groups in need. Our communities are where are employees are, so supporting them is our priority,” UPS Airlines President Brendan Canavan said.
“At Volunteers of America Mid-States, we served more than 25,000 people across 40 distinct programs last year. More than 600 individuals count on us for around-the-clock residential care. We are on the frontlines of caring for our community's most vulnerable individuals and families,” Jennifer Hancock, President and CEO of Volunteers of America, Mid-States said. “We are so grateful to amazing community relationships like UPS who make our work possible. This generous UPS grant is a lifeline -- it allows us to continue to operate programs like Unity House, where we keep families facing homelessness together. Thank you to UPS for helping VOA change lives."
“The list of UPS COVID-19 grant recipients looks like the unveiling of a strategic team maneuvering against the pandemic. Working with these local champions is a dream as WaterStep can now bring our experience in international disasters and epidemics to our hometown. By beefing up our manufacturing processes, regional social service organizations, emergency management teams, jails and homeless shelters are using WaterStep equipment to give tens of thousands of people an endless amount of disinfection with a device the size of a curling iron. Without companies like UPS stepping up, this wouldn’t be possible,” WaterStep Founder and CEO, Mark Hogg said.
Recently, UPS Airlines donated $50,000 to the One Louisville: COVID-19 Response Fund and the UPS Foundation matched that donation with another $50,000 to the fund, totaling $100,000. The One Louisville: COVID-19 Response Fund was set up by Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer to help our vulnerable citizens in Louisville that have been impacted the Coronavirus.
UPS also donated 400 hospital-grade masks to a local assisted living facility, Cedar Lake Lodge. This response came because they were out of supply and were concerned due to their high-risk elderly population.
Designated by the governments of countries around the world as a “critical infrastructure business,” UPS deliveries are saving lives and livelihoods. The company offers its heartfelt thanks to the 495,000 UPSers around the world, whose work is essential during the pandemic, and who continue to deliver safely every day.
